It’s officially spring in Canada, and along with the showers and flowers comes the sixth edition of TalentEgg’s National Campus Recruitment Excellence Awards and Conference! This year we’ll also be bringing together “technology and talent” with this year’s keynote speaker Brian Fetherstonhaugh, Chairman and CEO of OgilvyOne Worldwide. Brian Fetherstonhaugh is a Marketing and recruitment expert and leads a global workforce of 5800 people. The median age at OgilvyOne Worldwide is 29 years old, so he knows a thing or two about hiring and managing young talent. Brian calls his recruitment theory the “Power of Magnetism.”
Also, Brian’s passion about inspiring and leading young professionals is reflected in his award winning book, The Long View: Career Strategies to Start Strong, Reach High, and Go Far. which includes insights and advice for developing their career in an increasingly competitive and digital age. Keynote: “How to Become a Magnetic Talent Enterprise”
According to Brian Fetherstonhaugh’s theory, the most successful recruitment strategies effectively mobilize technology to appeal to students and recent grads and create a community of talent. In an increasingly digital world, technology is being engaged to augment nearly every aspect of our lives, and networking and recruitment are no exception! Fetherstonhaugh maintains that harnessing these communication tools, in combination with traditional strategies, enable powerful connections between recruiters and top talent while simultaneously aiding in the construction of meaningful employer brands and cultures.
New to the Workforce
Following a brief break for book signings, please join us in welcoming Monica Haberl from the Conference Board of Canada as she presents the Board’s research on recruiting top talent, highlighting the ways in which organizations are attracting, developing, and compensating today’s recent grads. From rotational programs, co-ops and internships, Monica’s discussion will outline the various ways organizations are appealing to students while also recognizing the what skill sets are in demand and how new graduates and entry level employees who demonstrate such qualities are being rewarded. Her extensive research in areas like labour relations, corporate governance, and talent management with the Conference Board of Canada provide Monica with authoritative and cutting edge data on attracting, developing, and compensating those just entering Canada’s workforce, which she will be sharing with us!
Fostering Future CEOs:
Our next panel will feature Odgers Berndtson’s CEO x 1 Day leadership development program. To better identify today’s top talent and tomorrow’s leaders, Odgers Berndtson has championed a new model for developing leadership skills with its innovative CEO x 1 Day program, a student program that fosters connections between high-achieving students and top CEOs. In this program, eligible third and fourth year university students participate in an executive search and are matched with industry leaders in a process which includes an online leadership evaluation courtesy of Hogan Assessments. Selected students are given the opportunity to shadow exceptional CEOs in this unique mentorship program, gaining connections and valuable insight into day to day life within the industry.
Kim is both partner at Odgers Berndtson and Head of the firm’s new CHRO, where she assists organizations in developing high potential talent and executives. Prior to Odgers Berndtson, Kim held various senior roles in human capital and Human Resources, and is an expert in talent management, leadership development, diversity & inclusion, and executive compensation.
The Chief Marketing Officer for Odgers Berndtson, Jacqueline is a member of the leadership team and is responsible for leading the Canadian marketing strategy and planning in addition to enhancing the customer experience.
